About Us
The Vancouver Short Film Festival put on its first successful festival in 2009 at the VIFF Vancity Theatre and since the organization’s inception in 2005, has shown over 200 short films. The 10th Vancouver Short Film Festival will be held in January 2020 and we are looking for committed volunteer staff members to add to our stellar team. We are dedicated to working hard to showcase the best shorts in BC, we love watching movies, and most importantly, we like to have fun.
Social Media Assistant
Duration: June 2019 – February 2020
Time commitment is expected to range between 2-5 hours per week and increase leading up to the festival. We expect the candidate to be sharing the festival activity on our social media accounts at the festival.
Duties:
Liaising with the Festival Directors for guidance and attending staff meetings as required.
Working with the Marketing Team members to come up with new festival themes/images, creating and editing marketing materials (cards, posters, ads and the festival programme).
Managing, posting, and uploading media on our social media accounts, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Vimeo.
Drafting social media updates for our community partners and communicating important deadlines to our social networks.
Adding and engaging with members on said accounts.
Sharing news as assigned by the Festival Director and Sponsorship team.
Recording relevant statistics such as growth of Facebook fans, Twitter followers, and video views.
Assisting with the preparation and dissemination of the monthly newsletter.
Attending networking events or other film festivals, if desired.
Carrying out tasks on-site at the festival as needed, including creation, collection, and evaluation of the VSFF Festival Feedback forms.
Contributing to the official Marketing Report following the festival (which can be used for your own portfolio).
Assisting the Marketing team with tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
You...
Are passionate about the film industry and attend movies or arts events on a regular basis.
Are organized, have great written communication skills, and love to be on social media.
Are a fast learner and are great working both alone and with a team.
Have connections to networks such as bloggers and social media influencers.
Are graduating or have recently graduated with a Marketing, Arts or equivalent degree.
Have access to the Internet, a smartphone, Microsoft Word and Excel.
