(Read this before you submit a film!)
- Submissions must be RECEIVED by 6:00 PM on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the latest. Films received after this time will NOT be eligible for screening.
- Films must be submitted with a $25 CAD submission fee (post-secondary students) or $35 CAD submission fee (professional artists). We accept cash or cheque via mail, or PayPal online.
- Students: You must be a current student at, or recent graduate of a post-secondary institution in British Columbia and have made your film before graduating.
- Professional artists: You must have graduated from a post-secondary institution at the festival date and/or be currently working in BC with a significant body of work in short film, video, or new media. All selected films at the professional level will be given an artist fee after the festival.
- Films must have been completed in 2008 or later. The film must have been produced in BC or made by a BC producer or director.
- Films must be 15 minutes or under including credits.
- Selected entrants will be notified by email in mid-September.
- VSFF assumes that all filmmakers have received permission to use all material within a film and will not be held liable for any legal action resulting from copyright violation on behalf of the filmmakers.
- VSFF reserves the right to use clips and images from accepted films for promotional purposes, including print, radio, television, Internet, and other media.
- If you are one of our top 5 festival films (as deemed by the festival jury), the VSFF may forward copies of your film to other festivals or broadcast media as part of an award prize or festival partnership. Please let us know if you would NOT like your film to be forwarded on your behalf after screening at our festival.
- When submitting your film to multiple festivals, please be aware of other events that screen after the VSFF, that require Canadian films to be premieres. The VSFF is not responsible for screening films that have been accepted at other festivals you have submitted to. In the case that you are accepted into another festival that takes place after the VSFF, you may contact us to withdraw your film and receive a refund.
