Submission Guidelines

• Submissions must be RECEIVED by 6:00 PM on April 19, 2008 at the latest. Films received after this time will not be eligible for screening.
• Films must be submitted with a CAD$20 submission fee.
• Films must have been completed in 2006 or later.
• You must be a current student at a post-secondary institution in British Columbia (or have graduated within the last 3 years).
• The film must be 20 minutes or under.
• Please label your film with title, running length, contact name, and email address.
• Film previews must be submitted in either DVD format (preferred) or MiniDV.
• A short 150 word bio, 200 word synopsis, and production stills must be included in the application package.
• Submission of a short preview trailer is highly recommended.
• Winners will be notified by email in mid-May.
• VSFF assumes that all filmmakers have received permission to use all material within a film and will not be held liable for any legal action resulting from copyright violation on behalf of the filmmakers
• Please do not send originals of any material. VSFF cannot return any submission materials.
• VSFF reserves the right to use clips and images from accepted films for promotional purposes, including possible exposure in print, radio, television, internet, and other media.

Notice: This year VSFF has added an initiative involving the Vancouver International Film Festival. To prevent films from being excluded from VIFF, we will not screen any films submitted to VSFF that have been accepted into VIFF. Instead, a full refund will be issued to those films which have been accepted into our festival as well as VIFF.
